It is 1-3 hours (depend on zone track) safari by Jeep, in morning time (Gate open: 07-09 am) and in evening time (Gate open 3-5pm) in which you can experience Jungle. Rajaji Tiger Reserve is a very famous tourist destination located in the India state of Uttarakhand. The region is mainly famous for the Asian Elephant Reserve. Main transport options around the reserve are jeeps safaris. Private vehicles (as per Nainital High Court Order) are not allowed inside the Reserve forest, and this is one point to note while taking up a trip to Rajaji. At Rajaji you can get the chance of viewing Spotted Deer, Sambhar, Wild Boar, tiger, leopard, Barking deer, Goral Two kinds of Bears Himalayan Black and Sloth, and over 400 bird species makes Rajaji Tiger Reserve a perfect wild life safari and bird watching destination.

SAFARI ZONES

Rajaji Tiger Reserve has various safari zones. Some are situated around Haridwar city and some near Dehradun. Yet zones near to Haridwar city are very popular among tourists due to its habitat in Ganga belt. It has mainly four Safari Zones (Chilla, Jhilmil, Motichur, Ranipur) in order to manage and balance the number of tourists. While Dehradun has Asarori and Mohand entries. Activities such as Jungle Safari (on Gypsy), Bird Watching, half day visit, full day visits can be done. Visitors can choose any of following Safari zones for their wild life experience. Ranipur and Jhilmil zones are about 15 km from Haridwar city, while Chilla and Motichur are 12 and 9 km from Haridwar City. All four zones are in four different direction of city. Now 2 new zones Chilla (Andheri) and Motichur (Satyanarayan) also available for Jungle Safari.

Chilla Zone

Mundal Sot Safari Zone: A Thrilling Wildlife Experience

Jhilmil Zone

Swamp Deer Conservation Reserve Safari – A Unique Wildlife Experience

Explore the stunning Swamp Deer Conservation Reserve, located in the southern part of Chilla, a unique habitat dedicated to the protection of the rare Swamp Deer (Barasingha). This is the only place in Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh where you can witness these magnificent creatures in the wild.

This safari is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, especially from November to March, when migratory birds flock to the area, making it a must-visit destination for bird lovers and photographers.

Apart from Swamp Deer, the region is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including Tigers, Leopards, Asian Elephants, Wild Boars, and four species of deer. During winter, don’t miss the famous Crocodile Point, a key attraction where you can spot crocodiles basking in the sun. Certain areas of the reserve also provide a chance to spot the elusive Black Bear.

Ranipur Zone

Beribara Safari – A Journey Through History & Wildlife

  • Habitat Type: Mixed Forest (Ber, Cheer Pine, Teak, Rohini, and Scrub Forest)

Step back in time as you enter Beribara FRH, the original Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary from the British era. Once a VVIP hunting ground, this historic wildlife reserve offers a glimpse into the past while providing a rich and diverse natural habitat.

The safari route is flanked by fertile Terai farmlands to the south, while the landscape is adorned with Ber, Cheer Pine, Teak, and Rohini trees, along with stretches of scrub forest and Lantana bushes.
