Rajaji Tiger Reserve
Rajaji Tiger Reserve, a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts, boasts multiple safari zones spread across Haridwar and Dehradun. The zones near Haridwar are particularly popular due to their rich biodiversity along the Ganga belt.
To ensure a balanced influx of tourists, the reserve is divided into four key safari zones near Haridwar: Chilla, Jhilmil, Motichur, and Ranipur. Additionally, Dehradun features the Asarori and Mohand safari entries.

Jhilmil Zone

Swamp Deer Conservation Reserve Safari – A Unique Wildlife Experience

- Safari Duration: 2.5 to 3 hours
- Habitat Type: Marshy Grassland
Explore the stunning Swamp Deer Conservation Reserve, located in the southern part of Chilla, a unique habitat dedicated to the protection of the rare Swamp Deer (Barasingha). This is the only place in Uttarakhand and western Uttar Pradesh where you can witness these magnificent creatures in the wild.
This safari is also a birdwatcher’s paradise, especially from November to March, when migratory birds flock to the area, making it a must-visit destination for bird lovers and photographers.
Apart from Swamp Deer, the region is home to a rich variety of wildlife, including Tigers, Leopards, Asian Elephants, Wild Boars, and four species of deer. Ranipur Zone

Beribara Safari – A Journey Through History & Wildlife

- Habitat Type: Mixed Forest (Ber, Cheer Pine, Teak, Rohini, and Scrub Forest)
Step back in time as you enter Beribara FRH, the original Rajaji Wildlife Sanctuary from the British era. Once a VVIP hunting ground, this historic wildlife reserve offers a glimpse into the past while providing a rich and diverse natural habitat.
The safari route is flanked by fertile Terai farmlands to the south, while the landscape is adorned with Ber, Cheer Pine, Teak, and Rohini trees, along with stretches of scrub forest and Lantana bushes.
